SICILY. Katane. Circa 461-450 BC. Litra (Silver, 11 mm, 0.71 g, 7 h). Balding head of Silenos to left, with an animal ear and a long beard. Rev. KAT-ANE Winged thunderbolt; two shields flanking. Boehringer, Kataneische, Series I, Li2. CNG 42 (1997), 120 (same dies). HGC 2, 587 corr. (head left or right). SNG ANS -. Rare and with a beautiful head of Silenos. Minor deposits and with very light doubling on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
